Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work online or in-person?
Yes, I offer both.
Virtual sessions take place via Google Meet, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort of your own space. In-person sessions are held in a calm, welcoming therapy room at TherapEast, 113c High St, IG6 2AH.
What is counselling?
Counselling isn’t about quick fixes or offering all the answers. It’s a collaborative process where we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together in a safe, supportive space. The aim isn’t to “fix” you — because you’re not broken — but to help you better understand yourself and how you relate to the world around you.
Through this process, you’ll begin to notice patterns, make sense of your emotions, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges with more confidence and clarity. Counselling can be a powerful journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
How many sessions will I need?
I work in an open-ended way, meaning there's no set number of sessions. We'll go at a pace that suits you, and together we can decide what feels right as therapy progresses. We can discuss this more fully in our first session.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy involves a deeper exploration of your inner world and life story. Together, we look at how past experiences — especially those from early life — may be shaping your current thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
By bringing unconscious patterns into awareness, psychotherapy can help you gain new insights into longstanding difficulties, enabling you to respond to life in more conscious and empowered ways. It’s about connecting the dots between past and present, and using that understanding to support healing and change.
Do you offer a consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 20-minute consultation. After I share some initial information, the space is yours to talk about whatever you feel comfortable sharing. I’ll follow your lead, aiming to get a sense of what’s going on for you.
This consultation also gives you the chance to get a feel for how I work, so you can decide if I’m the right fit for you. Afterward, you’re welcome to take some time to think it over before deciding to proceed.
Online therapy or face-to-face?
Both are effective — the right choice depends on what works best for you.
Online therapy can offer flexibility, privacy, and ease. It eliminates travel time and can be accessed from the comfort of your own space — whether you're at home, at work, or elsewhere. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many people.
Face-to-face therapy can feel more personal for some. Being physically present in a dedicated space can help you feel grounded and make it easier to open up. If you struggle with privacy at home or simply prefer that in-the-room connection, in-person therapy may feel more supportive.
Whichever you choose, you’ll receive the same quality of care and attention.
